As Citizens' president, CEO, and executive director, Barry Gilway oversees all operations and serves as liaison to Citizens’ Board of Governors.

His extensive insurance experience includes working as CEO of Zurich Canada, executive VP of Zurich North America, CEO of Maryland Casualty Companies, and executive VP of Crum and Forster.

After retiring from Zurich in 2006, Mr. Gilway became a consultant for Mystic Capital Advisors. He completed several significant transactions before joining one of Mystic Capital’s clients, Economical Insurance Group of Canada. Prior to his role at Citizens, he led Mattei Insurance Services as chief executive officer, reporting to the Economical Board of Directors.

Gilway earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Akron University and is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Business Executive Program.
